Boston police are on the hunt for an armed robber who targeted a South End convenience store, making off with a haul of about $3,000. The heist, which occurred late Thursday at the Richdale Food Shops on Dartmouth Street, was captured on surveillance footage and has since been a growing concern for the local community.

Authorities responded to the scene after the incident was reported around 10 p.m., according to WHDH. The video showed a man clad in a black jacket with a fur-lined hood who seemed to strategically time his attack, waiting for other customers to leave before making his move. Deceptively posing as an ordinary customer, he appeared to conduct a simple transaction to buy a bottle of water. Then he allegedly brandished a gun and compelled the cashier to step aside.

The cashier is seen in the video reacting with shock, hands raised in a gesture of compliance, as the assailant reached over the counter to quickly snatch the cash. Despite the clear footage of the crime, the robber's identity remains concealed behind a mask.

Boston police have yet to make any arrests and are calling for the public's aid to identify the suspect. NBC Boston, who also shared details of the robbery, reported that the suspect wore a dark-colored winter jacket paired with a white face mask. The employee puts his hands in the air and takes several steps backward as the suspect reaches over the counter and appears to pull cash from the register before running out of the store, according to the information captured and shared by NBC Boston.

The investigation is actively underway with Boston police scouring the vicinity for leads. Store employees and witnesses have been contributing details to aid the police.
