Hutto has found its new economic development czar in Cheney Gamboa, who's been working her magic as the assistant director for more than a year. The city's bragging about snatching her from the Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, where she was cutting her teeth before making the jump up the city's ladder. This hard charger's already knee-deep in major projects aiming to doll up Hutto's economic landscape.
“I’m beyond honored to continue to serve my community in this role," Gamboa beamed, as per the City of Hutto Official website. With a slew of ambitious legacy projects in her sights, Gamboa is rolling up her sleeves to bring prosperity to the burgh of Hutto. Mark your calendars for December 7 at 7:00 p.m.—Hutto's head honchos will put a shiny official pin on her promotion at the City Council meeting.
Besides being a whiz with a Master’s of Business Administration and a resume fat with account management gigs, Gamboa knows her way around a podium, too. She dazzled at this month's state training on sales taxes, sharing her smarts with everyone from school staff to bigwigs at the Texas Economic Development Council. Her name's also on the roster for the Council's ace-in-the-hole Future Leaders Training program.
Her home turf of Hutto has felt more than a touch of Gamboa's give-back spirit. When she's not steering Hutto's economic ship, you might find her donning her philanthropic hat as a Girl Scouts volunteer, a neighborhood association leader, or lending an ear at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. According to official city statements, raising three kids with her husband in Hutto's only made her dive deeper into sprucing up the place she calls home.
