The Windy City is slogging through an unusually tepid winter solstice, forecasters say, as Chicagoans brace for a string of overcast days and rainy nights leading up to Christmas.
According to the National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville, today's skies will remain gloomy with temperatures hovering in the low 40 degrees, while the evening promises a 50 percent chance of rainfall. Come Friday, the city is set to endure heavier downpours with an 80 percent likelihood of rain.
Similarly, FOX 32 Chicago reports a damp outlook for the holiday season. Steady showers are also expected to persist into Tuesday and Wednesday.
While no major storms are forecasted, the National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook does anticipate "hazardous conditions for small craft" by next Wednesday. Temperatures will just slightly decrease from the week's warmer notes as they near 43 degrees by next week's end.
