
In a terrifying daylight incident, a 14-year-old was nearly abducted off the streets of Chicago's 17th District, the Chicago Police Department warned in a community alert. The child was standing on the sidewalk in the 5400 block of North Kimball Avenue when a man attempted to forcibly take the victim on December 27, 2023, but the quick-thinking youngster escaped the assailant's grip.
According to police, the attempted kidnapping occurred on the 5400 block of North Kimball Avenue sometime between 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m., driving fear into the heart of the community. Parents are urged to keep a vigilant eye on their children and report any suspicious behavior. The assailant, described as a male in his 30s or 40s with brown wavy hair and a fair complexion, was last seen wearing a red and black jacket and driving a black Jeep carryall with Illinois license plate EE81455, the authorities are now on the lookout for this individual and ask anyone with information to come forward.
The Chicago Police Department's alert advises residents to stay alert at all times, especially noting strangers who seem out of place. The safety guide also stipulates remaining calm if confronted and memorizing distinctive features of any potential offender.
