A 15-year-old boy has been slapped with three felony charges of armed robbery, the Chicago Police Department announced. According to the official CPD Charge Release, the juvenile was nabbed on December 12, 2023, at around 7:10 p.m. following a string of robberies that saw victims relieved of their possessions at gunpoint.
The young offender's alleged spree took an unfortunate turn in the 2200 block of W. Washington Blvd., where police placed him into custody. Prior to this, he reportedly targeted a 38-year-old male and a 44-year-old male in the 2000 block of W. Madison St. These incidents occurred thirty minutes before his arrest and within the proximity of the 12th District—a stone's throw from where his freedom was curtailed.
This is not the teen's first brush with the law, as he is also accused of sticking up a retail business earlier this month. The crime took place on December 3, 2023, in the early hours at about 9:36 a.m. in the 800 block of W. Van Buren St., according to the official charge release. The latest round of charges adds to an already worrisome trend of youth violence and crime in the city.
Details surrounding the incidents remain sparse as the investigation continues.
