A 14-year-old girl staged a gutsy escape from an attempted abduction in Chicago's Albany Park. The teen was on a sidewalk around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday when a man sought to drag her into his vehicle in the 5400 block of North Kimball Avenue.
While standing alone, the man seized her in a headlock trying to pull her into a black Jeep. Meanwhile, the girl courageously fought off her would-be captor, freeing herself before he retreated into the SUV, peeling away from the scene. This incident was described in an alert issued by the authorities, as noted by NBC Chicago.
The police have launched an appeal for information bearing witness to the foiled kidnap. They detail the suspect as a 30 to 40-year-old male with undulating brown hair, donning a red and black jacket. The vehicle in question has been identified with Illinois plates, EE81455.
Tips have been solicited by the Chicago PD, with detectives from Area Three leading the investigation. Wearing a red and black jacket, the suspect's description along with his vehicle was shared by the police, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Concerned citizens and those possessing knowledge of the occurrence are encouraged to come forward and contact detectives at (312) 744-8261.
