
Chicago has witnessed yet another disturbing act of vandalism and hate, as 30-year-old Mariana Lynch faces serious charges including hate crimes and defacement of property. Lynch, who hails from the 7300 block of N. Sheridan Road in Chicago, was arrested on December 28 by officers of the Chicago Police Department after being identified as the perpetrator behind the vandalism of local businesses, an apartment complex, and park property in the city's 24th District.
As reported by the Chicago Police Department, Lynch's charges are extensive, comprising three felony counts of hate crime, one additional count specifically regarding a hate crime at a school, four misdemeanor counts of criminal defacement of property, and two felony counts of criminal damage to government property. The arrest occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. and within merely an hour after the reported incidents. Lynch was subsequently taken into custody and charged.
Details surrounding the specific nature of the defacement and the methodology used by the offender to spread such discord have not been made public.
The case is now set to proceed through the criminal justice system with Lynch's detention hearing scheduled at the court location at 2600 S. California on December 30, 2023.
