The calamity prompted an immediate response, with calls flooding around 7:50 p.m. from a bystander near the Starbucks at 3047 Bonita Rd., FOX5 San Diego reported. The gravely injured individual was rushed by Fire Department responders to UCSD Hillcrest Hospital; however, despite their swift efforts, the pedestrian's life was claimed by the wounds sustained. The identity and age of the victim remain shielded from the public's eye as the investigation unfolds.
Meanwhile, the 75-year-old motorist at the wheel stood firm at the scene, engaging fully with law enforcement queries. By all accounts, it seems neither the haze of alcohol nor the shadow of drugs played a role in this misfortune. "DUI not suspected," the Chula Vista Police Department iterated.
As the westbound lanes of Bonita Rd. shuttered beneath the blue and red lights of patrol cars, Chula Vista Police Department's Traffic Bureau began their meticulous work, piecing together the moments that led up to the crash. The authorities have appealed to the public, asking any witnesses or those with information to come forward and contact the CVPD’s Traffic Bureau at (619) 476-5320 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
