Two women are on the radar of Coconut Creek police after they were spotted on surveillance video engaging in a slick theft at a Sephora store. According to Local 10 News, the duo utilized the billowing fabric of long skirts to smuggle out over $1,000 in fragrances. Part action worthy of a “NASCAR pit crew,” the women were very fast and very efficient, carrying out their operation with a practiced precision that suggested this wasn’t their first theft.
The store at the Promenade at Coconut Creek, sitting at 4455 Lyons Road, offered details on the heist. The NBC Miami report shared how the suspects roamed the perfume section before concealing their loot, one box at a time, within the secretive confines of their skirts. Their movements, though in plain sight of surveillance cameras, were strategic, sparing themselves from the eyes of unsuspecting shoppers.
Authorities are left pondering the mechanics of their crime. Coconut Creek Police Department spokesperson Scotty Leamon was quoted by Local 10 News saying, “They’re either wearing some type of leggings or they made something underneath their skirts to hold these boxes because they stuffed a lot of boxes down their skirts and managed to hold them to walk out. I think they’ve done it before and they’ve been successful, that’s why they continue to do it and they may be even out there now doing the same thing.”
The police are calling on the public for assistance. Anyone with information that could lead to recognizing these women is urged to step forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Broward Crime Stoppers by calling 954-493-8477.
