A Connecticut man died in a solo car crash on I-495 in Haverhill, causing traffic delays and requiring urgent response from emergency crews. The incident took place last Friday.
Massachusetts State Troopers detailed an account of the afternoon disaster, which saw David Ziembko, 62, of New Britain, Conn., lose control of his 2017 Honda CR-V. According to reports, at around 2:54 PM, Ziembko's vehicle swerved off the southbound lanes into the grass median, before it made a deadly impact with the guardrail under the Route 97 overpass and overturned. The news, first echoed by the Massachusetts State Police news blog, sent shockwaves through the local community.
First responders toiled to extricate the sole vehicle occupant, initiating life-saving efforts that, despite their urgency and earnestness, fell short of pulling Ziembko back from the brink. Transported to Lawrence General Hospital, the Connecticut man was pronounced deceased, leaving investigators piecing together the grim puzzle that lasered through that median strip and snuffed out an existence.
The exact cause of the crash—whether it was a treacherous maneuver gone awry on I-495 or a sudden medical crisis that gripped Mr. Ziembko prior to the accident—remains shrouded in uncertainty. Troopers, alongside specialists from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Crime Scene Services Section, are meticulously sifting through the evidence, as relayed by the official release.
