A theft crew in Santa Rosa faced heat from the police as they were nabbed in connection with a high-value heist of designer jackets valued at around $10,000. The Santa Rosa Police Department reported events that led to multiple arrests.
The frosty caper began yesterday when two men allegedly orchestrated a retail theft, snatching armfuls of pricey outerwear from a store in the 2400 block of Magowan Drive. After their grab-and-dash, they quickly got in a waiting vehicle driven by a female accomplice. A vigilant witness noted the vehicle's license plate, initiating a rapid police investigation.
The driver, 38-year-old Stephanie De Soto, was located through witness-provided details. A traffic stop near Cleveland Avenue and College Avenue resulted in the arrest of De Soto and two other adults. This led to the discovery of one stolen jacket, methamphetamine, and evidence that was linked to identity theft and check fraud. Subsequent information led the police to a nearby motel where the remaining suspects were found.
The initial duo linked to the theft, Kenneth Torres, 47, and Randall Hendry, 40, were arrested at the motel on Santa Rosa Avenue. Another conspirator, Jolene Gooler, was also apprehended at the motel. The charges include organized retail theft, burglary, and conspiracy.
For more information on the investigation and the suspects, Sergeant Ryan Hepp is available for inquiries.
