Yesterday, a Dorchester woman was slapped with charges after Boston cops uncovered a cache of drugs and a weapon during a raid. Trang Duong, 52, was nabbed by officers from the City-Wide Drug Control Unit and Drug Control Unit of District E-13 after they executed search warrants at approximately 10:30 AM on Ellsworth Street, and they didn't just find a little bit of illegal substances but a staggering amount of the deadly opioid fentanyl alongside crack cocaine, plenty of ammo, and thousands in cash, according to Boston Police Department official release.
Boston Police Department's official release detailed that the search led to the seizure of about 65 grams of fentanyl, 8 grams of crack cocaine, a F.lli Pietta gun, and 110 rounds of 9mm ammunition, along with nearly $11,000.
The series of charges against Duong include unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, trafficking in fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute narcotics—both class A and B controlled substances. Set to face the music in Roxbury District Court, her arrest flags the continuing struggle of law enforcement agencies against the surge of fentanyl in local communities.
Boston's finest drug squads have once again proven their worth in their tireless efforts to keep the taint of drugs off those streets. While they recovered not just drugs, they also got ahold of a weapon, offering a grim reminder between illicit narcotics and violent crime.
