In a remarkable display of civic duty on December 7, a vigilant community member took action after an elderly lady informed him that her car had been stolen. The good Samaritan immediately engaged in pursuit of the suspect by following the stolen vehicle and keeping a safe distance while relaying information to the Fairfield Police Department (FPD).
The Fairfield Police Department detailed the incident. The elderly victim had desperately sought help when she flagged down the man, whose name has not been disclosed. Taking matters into his own hands, he shadowed the car until law enforcement was able to intervene. His actions facilitated a swift response, leading to the arrest of the suspected carjacker.
The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Sachae Coleman, who is now facing charges of car theft and a violation of Postrelease Community Supervision (PRCS). The quick thinking and responsible actions of the good Samaritan proved pivotal in preventing the suspect from evading capture.
The FPD issued a word of caution, saying "While we strongly advise against following criminals as it can be incredibly dangerous, we are grateful for the dedication of the community members who ensured this one didn't get away."
