In an incident, hundreds of rounds of ammunition exploded inside a car on the I-93 freeway, causing chaos and shutting down traffic both ways in Bow, New Hampshire. The sound of the ammo detonating was like a backdrop to a scene of mayhem, as per CBS Boston reported that crews worked to put out the vehicular inferno as the bullets inside let loose.
The driver, previously seen driving erratically, lost control and slammed into the center guardrail before their vehicle went airborne, struck multiple trees, and burst into flames. While the individuals in the car miraculously escaped with their lives, the first responders, as the ammunition made a difficult situation near-impossible to manage. Notably, despite what could have been a scene of tragedy, no severe injuries were reported, and, according to WMUR, one individual was taken into custody on several warrants with the potential for additional charges as an investigation unfolds.
The New Hampshire State Police indicated that the incident unfolded in a perilous ballet of a car swerved off its destined path, striking another vehicle, whose occupant escaped harm. Meanwhile, good Samaritans and witnesses did not hesitate to offer aid amidst the danger.
What was once a stretch of normalcy on I-93 Northbound near mile marker 32.2 was shut down completely as the southbound lanes felt the chaos, fire, and sound. But as the fire was mastered by the firefighters, lanes began to reopen, restoring the flow of traffic and a semblance of normalcy to a Saturday afternoon disrupted by unforeseen violence.
