A tragic collision on U.S. Highway 281 in Central Texas has claimed the lives of a Fort Worth business leader and his two children. The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified Marine 1st Lt. Connor McKim as the driver who reportedly caused the fatal accident. 25-year-old McKim's vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and struck the SUV carrying Zach Muckleroy, the CEO of Muckleroy & Falls, and his family, as well as a second SUV, as reported by FOX 4 News.

The incident, which occurred the day before Thanksgiving, resulted in the deaths of Muckleroy, his 12-year-old son Judson, and his 9-year-old daughter Lindsay. Muckleroy's wife, Lauren, was injured but survived. McKim, who was on his way home for the holiday, perished in the crash as well. Authorities have yet to ascertain why McKim's truck crossed into the oncoming lane and there is no indication that alcohol was a factor, as per Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Zach Muckleroy was recognized as a pillar of his community, having led his father’s construction firm since 2020. He was also a former TCU football player who made a lasting impression on the Fort Worth community, both in business and personal spheres.

The young Marine, McKim, is remembered by his loved ones for "his relentless work ethic, contagious smile, and sense of humor," according to his obituary. His family detailed their loss on Facebook, expressing that he was coming home to celebrate Thanksgiving when the accident tragically cut his journey short. He was a respected volunteer and talented trombone player and had recently been transferred to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi for flight school when the collision occurred, as detailed by Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
