Officer Hollowell's service was marred by violence, having been shot and stabbed six times over his career. These repeated confrontations with death underscored the constant peril that officers like Hollowell faced. The motorcycle incident that eventually led to his demise occurred less than a year before his death, leaving him with injuries too severe to overcome.
