Violence erupted in Miami with separate shootings in the Little Haiti neighborhood and in another incident close by, leaving a total of four men wounded in less than a day, police reported. The first incident occurred Wednesday night when a man was shot near Northeast Second Avenue and 56th Street. As detailed by a Local 10 article, Miami Police Department's Officer Kiara Delva stated that officers found the male victim with a gunshot wound just after 6 p.m.
The injured man was promptly taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center for treatment, his current condition has not been disclosed. So far, authorities haven’t named the victim, and no arrests have been made in connection with the Little Haiti shooting. The police have appealed to the public for information and urge anyone with knowledge to reach out to Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
Hours later, an argument allegedly led to gunfire that resulted in three men being shot around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of NW 1st Avenue and 12th Street. This information comes from a CBS News Miami report, specifying that upon arrival, responding officers located the men, all suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were then transported to the same hospital as the individual from the earlier shooting.
Detectives have reviewed surveillance footage and believe an altercation between the men may have been the cause for the violence, however, the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting have yet to be fully determined. Neither victims' identities nor their conditions have been released to the public at this time, and it is still unclear if any suspects have been apprehended following either of the incidents.
Both shootings have prompted a Miami Police Department investigation, with detectives piecing together events of the violent night. These incidents add to the concerns surrounding gun violence in Miami, a city that has faced its share of shootings in recent years. As both of these cases remain active, police are actively seeking tips that could lead to arrests and are asking witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice for the victims.
