Drew Smith, a former United States Army veteran, has managed to carve out his slice of the American Dream with his Arlington-based company, Lone Star Drone. Founded in 2018 after his military service, Smith aimed to leverage the high-tech skills of fellow veterans in a civilian enterprise. "A lot of these were talking about what they were going to go back to when they got off their deployment," Smith said. "They didn’t have careers to go back to. I had a good career to go back to so if I could help these guys out by starting some kind of company or some kind of business that employed these incredibly talented guys that were used to dealing with advanced technologies and advanced systems, then that’s what I was going to do", as reported by the City of Arlington, Texas.

Lone Star Drone is not just another drone outfit. The company prides itself on hiring Part 107 licensed and certified pilots, all of whom have a military background. With a fleet of state-of-the-art drones, Lone Star Drone serves a diverse clientele, offering services ranging from thermography and mapping to real estate and industrial inspections. Smith claims that his team can give clients "results beyond what they expect", per an interview given to the City of Arlington, Texas.

Security is at the heart of Lone Star Drone’s ethos. "The security of our nation, safety of our critical infrastructure, and support to our first responders is the cornerstone of protecting our nation’s most precious commodity, its people," Smith said. Lone Star Drone’s approach hinges on employing veterans who are familiar with the most sophisticated drone technology and adhering to stringent data security standards, as per the City of Arlington, Texas.

Every pilot undergoes rigorous training, ensuring they're up to the task of handling sensitive operations. "We personally train our pilots, first responders, and private sector partners to expert levels using certified curriculum modeled off U.S. Department of Defense and other U.S. government training standards," Smith explained. Their dedication to excellence and security is a reflection of their commitment to not just their customers but also the nation at large, per the City of Arlington, Texas.
