Garland's Magical Candlelight Christmas town is back and brighter than ever. Throngs of holiday enthusiasts will be flocking to the Travis College Hill Historic District on December 7 for a festive evening that promises more than just your typical Christmas cheer.
In a nod to old-world charm and simpler times, visitors can snag a free carriage ride from the historic district right into the heart of Downtown Garland's Christmas on the Square celebrations. The carriages will be loading guests at the corner of 11th Street and Avenue C and whisking them over six blocks to a drop-off point at Avenue A at Sixth Street, according to the City of Garland.
But the merriment doesn't end with a simple jaunt through the neighborhood, as the event's itinerary is packed with holiday favorites. The festivities will include a home tour through the Travis College Hill and Embree neighborhoods, a chance to snap a picture with Santa and his better half, a live nativity scene to capture the reason for the season, and, let's not forget, the essential hot cocoa and hot dogs to keep the winter chill at bay.
Sponsored by a grant from the Garland Cultural Arts Commission and the City of Garland Cultural Arts Division, Magical Candlelight Christmas Town is not just a result of civic pride but also the generosity of approximately 20 benefactors, corporate and individual alike. They've made it possible for this historical nugget of Garland to glisten with Yuletide spirit. For those looking to join the fun pre-dusk, tickets will set you back $20 if purchased online before 4 p.m. on the day of the event. If you're more of a last-minute planner, tickets will run you $25 post-4 p.m. So, whether you're a planner or a pantser, there's a ticket with your name on it.
