Big news for Peachtree City as German medical device powerhouse Gerresheimer AG is set to pump $88 million into the local economy. The planned new factory, dishing out over 200 fresh-off-the-press jobs, is a boon for the Atlanta suburb's workforce. With roots dug deep into the area for over three decades, this expansion marks a significant leap for Gerresheimer in Peachtree City, where it has been a stable employer with a current headcount north of 260.
As reported by AP News, the Dusseldorf-based company isn't new to growth spurts, with an ongoing project expected to add 180 jobs by April. Their latest move? Snatching up land for a 160,000-square-foot factory set, to throw open its doors in fall 2024 focusing on churning out autoinjectors, life-saving gadgets used for medicine delivery.
These jobs aren't just your run-of-the-mill positions, either. Amanda Fields, director of existing industries for the Fayette County Development Authority, told WSB-TV the new positions will pay an average salary of $56,000 a year. In an age where job security and decent wages are at a premium, the community's economic future just got a little brighter.
While the new facility is all about the business of autoinjectors, the commitment shown by Gerresheimer AG to Peachtree City is injecting, more than just syringes, but optimism into the heart of suburban Atlanta. The multi-million dollar expansion cements the city's reputation not only as a hub for medical device innovation but also as a beacon for job growth and economic stability in the region.
