Shoppers expecting holiday deals were met with terror instead when an armed robbery unfolded at the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets. According to a press release issued by Sergeant Ryan Suhrke of the Petaluma Police Department, a gunman forced his way into a vehicle and demanded valuables from two victims at gunpoint.
The incident occurred at around 8:05 PM on December 22nd, right in the hubbub of last-minute holiday shopping. The suspect, described as a black male in his thirties wearing a mask, hat, and dark jacket, entered the back seat of the victim's vehicle and brandished a black semi-automatic handgun. The victims, parked near the entrance to the shopping center, complied with the assailant's demands after being threatened repeatedly.
Following the robbery, the perpetrator fled the scene, prompting an immediate response by Petaluma officers who searched the area extensively but, were unable to catch the suspect. The victims managed to escape physical harm but the psychological ordeal of staring down the barrel of a gun will likely haunt them for a time to come.
While the investigation continues, the authorities have turned to the public for assistance. "The Petaluma Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information that may be helpful to contact Officer Sawyer Johnson," the release stated. Any tips could provide a crucial link in bringing the perpetrator to justice and ensuring the safety of the community during the holiday season.
