A major car wreck led to the arrest of a man on his third driving while intoxicated charge, authorities say. Douglas Franklin was nabbed after he allegedly caused a crash on Cypresswood Drive, where a deputy from Constable Mark Herman’s Office said he showed clear signs he’d been imbibing.
Officials put Franklin through the paces with field sobriety tests and determined the man was indeed under the influence. It wasn’t his first ride on the wagon, though, the lawmen discovered he had two prior DWI convictions.
"Douglas Franklin was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with his third driving while intoxicated offense." Constable Mark Herman stated this in a Facebook post. He's looking at a $10,000 bond, courtesy of the 337th District Court.
This latest incident puts Franklin at risk for more severe penalties due to Texas's harsh stance on repeat DWI offenders. Harris County, not unfamiliar with such cases, has seen a spate of repeat DWI incidents recently, raising concern about chronic offenders on the road.
