A spree of vehicle vandalism at Healdsburg High School has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old local man, with a total of 34 vehicles reported damaged. Healdsburg Police Department officers were called to the school around 10:40 a.m. on December 4.
Investigators were on the scene to quickly begin gathering information from the victims when a tip from an attentive citizen led to the discovery of even more vandalized vehicles in the vicinity of the high school. It didn't take long for the officers to find and apprehend Spencer Martin of Healdsburg, who matched the description provided by the witness. The officers managed to track down the suspect, following up on the details given by the community member, according to Healdsburg Police Department.
An investigation ensued, firmly establishing Martin as the perpetrator behind the extensive property damage. The police department credited the watchful eyes of the Healdsburg community for aiding in the swift capture of the vandal. "We are grateful to the Healdsburg Community for their vigilance in reporting this criminal behavior", as per Healdsburg Police Department.
Martin now faces 34 counts of felony vandalism, a hefty charge for the acts of destruction attributed to his making. The total cost of the damage has been estimated to run into the thousands. Local authorities took Martin into custody, and he was formally charged with the felonies.
