Yesterday morning, a woman's vehicle became a fiery wreck after she plowed her car into a house in Hollywood, Fla., near an elementary school. This dramatic event occurred before dawn, around 4:40 a.m., at the intersection of Taft Street and South Longfellow Circle. Local 10 reports provided the detail that police officers courageously rescued the woman from the burning vehicle mere moments before it became an inferno.
According to spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi with the Hollywood Police Department, still trapped inside the car as it erupted in flames was the woman, indicating that her life was likely saved by the timely response of the police. Detectives were on site piecing together the events that led to the crash and called on the public and those with any information to reach out to Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
WSVN added that the crash site was close to Hollywood Hills Elementary School, luckily occurring when children and school staff were not present. To ensure the safety of the neighborhood, the authorities closed off parts of Taft Street between 35th Avenue and Longfellow Drive as emergency services and investigators worked at the scene.
Footage taken by 7Skyforce offered a snapshot of the havoc wrought by the collision, showing a homeowner standing by, phone in hand, capturing video evidence of the damages done to his abode by the crashed car. No injuries were reported beyond the woman driver, and while the investigation is still under active progress, authorities have yet to release further details regarding the cause of the crash.
