An early morning blaze erupted at an abandoned apartment in Houston's Greater Greenspoint area, causing an estimated $15,000 in damages, city officials report. The Houston Fire Department scrambled to the scene at 501 Seminar/17101 Imperial Valley Dr. yesterday, shortly after receiving a call at 7:32 a.m.
The first responders, arriving within a swift five minutes, were greeted by smoke billowing from the two-story structure. They quickly moved to aggressively attack the fire, bringing it under control. According to a release on the City of Houston's official news site, there were fortunately no injuries reported in the incident.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the HFD Arson unit, property management representatives were on the scene, vowing to secure the premises, which were slated for upcoming closure alongside the entire property.
