Houston roads are clogged up with traffic, securing the top spot and six of the ten most congested highways in Texas, according to the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. And for the third year running, Loop 610 from Interstate 10 to Interstate 69 holds the title of the most congested.

The I-69 segment from Texas 288 to Interstate 10 surged to the second spot this year, rising from fourth, causing drivers to cumulatively waste more than 1.2 million hours due to snail-paced traffic in 2022, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.

"In the peak of the peak you are seeing the slowdowns, but there is a lot of traffic that isn’t there until later," David Schrank, the senior researcher of the congestion report, explained in an interview with the Houston Chronicle. Overall traffic has reportedly increased in 2023, based on data from Houston TranStar.

Former trucker Texann Jones noted in an interview with KHOU, "You know if everybody cooperates it would be much better and there wouldn’t be as much frustration.”
