
Early Saturday morning in southwest Houston, a body with a gunshot wound was found inside the trunk of a burning car, local police confirmed. The startling incident unfolded in the 14500 block of Nelson Street, with the Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department responding to the emergency call around 6:30 a.m.
Upon extinguishing the flames that engulfed the car, authorities were faced with the macabre sight of the victim, whose identity at this time remains unknown. According to officials, as reported by ABC13, the victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Neighbors who earlier noticed the vehicle ablaze on their street had initially tipped off the authorities. The Houston police detained two individuals at the scene for questioning.
The Houston Police Department's public information officer, Victor Senties, was cited by the Houston Chronicle, putting forth a call to action for anyone with information to come forward. "Anyone with information on the person's death is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477 or HPD's homicide division at 713-308-3600," Senties stated.
The investigation is still ongoing.
