A man severely injured in a car accident last month in Houston has succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind questions surrounding the moments leading up to the crash. The victim, identified as 76-year-old Donald Callahan, passed away a week following the incident after fighting for his life at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.
According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. on November 28 when Callahan, who was operating a white Ford transit van eastbound on San Felipe Street, lost control and collided with a curb, then veered off, eventually hitting a brick pillar. The collision led to critical injuries. Houston police announced the sad culmination of events in a press release, stating the victim's identity and the nature of the accident.
Investigations by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer N. Duval have led to the belief that Callahan suffered a medical episode just before the crash, which may have been the catalyst for the unfortunate sequence of events, Houston police reported. Despite efforts to save Callahan, he was pronounced dead on December 5.
