
A tragedy struck a Houston neighborhood when a man was fatally shot while playing billiards in his home at 621 Mayford Street early on December 24. The Houston Police Department responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. and claimed the life of a 54-year-old man, as reported by the City of Houston official news blog.
Investigators have yet to release the identity of the victim, pending confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Based on the initial reports from HPD’s Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective R. Lujan, which was gathered by, the victim was in the company of two males whom he knew. After a series of gunshots, two Hispanic males were observed making their escape from the scene in a red, four-door Nissan Maxima.
The Houston Fire Department paramedics were dispatched to the scene, where they pronounced the victim dead. Detectives are now piecing together the events that led to the man's untimely death, in hopes of uncovering the motivation behind the violent act.
