
Houston police are delving into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a man on Emancipation Avenue earlier this week. The incident, which claimed the life of Jarrick Hoskins, 34, occurred in the early hours of Monday, at approximately 12:40 a.m, at a business on 4405 Emancipation Avenue, authorities said.
According to a statement provided by the City of Houston, responding officers found Hoskins with at least one gunshot wound. The Houston Fire Department paramedics rushed him to an area hospital, where, he was declared dead by the attending medical professionals.
The investigation, led by HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Detective C. Flora, is exploring what transpired before the tragic occurrence. It is understood that Hoskins and an unidentified suspect engaged in a verbal altercation prior to the shooting, as noted by officials. However, at this time, details surrounding the motive and the events that led to Hoskins's untimely death remain scant.
The suspect has been described as a black male in his early to mid-thirties, but no further information has been made available.
