In the early hours of Wednesday, a break-in at an auto repair shop was foiled thanks to the watchful eye of the owner and swift police action. According to a Facebook post by the Huntington Beach Police Department, the shop owner, watching surveillance footage, alerted authorities around 1:50 a.m. after spying on a man illegally entering his establishment.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed signs of forced entry and proceeded to quickly set up a perimeter. Although the burglar had seemingly vanished from the camera's view, the police were convinced he remained hidden within the premises. To thoroughly search the expansive shop, the Garden Grove Police Department's K-9 unit was called to assist. The police dog managed to quickly sniff out and locate the suspect who was attempting to conceal himself inside a closet.
The suspect, cornered by the dog's persistent barking, decided to peacefully surrender to law enforcement. The shop owner expressed his gratitude towards the police for their rapid response and efficient handling of the situation. The shop, thanks to the intervention, remained unscathed.
