The City is teaming up with Republic Services, enabling residents to easily rid themselves of their Christmas trees. Announced on Facebook, these new drop-off points are set up throughout the city, providing convenient locations for the post-holiday clean-up.
Citizens can drop off their trees on specific dates and at four designated locations. At Republic Services, residents can ditch their pines on the 29th and 30th of December, and then again on the 5th and 6th of January, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Public Works City Yard is another option, opening its gates from the 27th of December to the 12th of January, save for a break on the New Year's holidays on January 1st and 2nd. Meanwhile, the Edison Community Center and Murdy Community Center will also serve as tree drop-off points on selected days.
For those preferring to stick closer to home, curbside pick-up will take place during the first week of January on their normal collection days. As specified on the City's Facebook page, trees must be free of all decorations and should not be flocked or artificial. Additionally, residents of smaller multi-unit dwellings can place their trees next to dumpsters, while larger apartment complexes will need to utilize the drop-off sites or schedule a pick-up for a fee.
For any confusion about tree disposal, residents should contact Republic Services directly. The full list of locations, dates, and guidelines can be found on the City of Huntington Beach's Facebook page.
