Commuters at MBTA South Station faced an unexpected disruption yesterday when an intoxicated man decided to block the Red Line entrance. The situation quickly escalated as the man, a 40-year-old, stubbornly refused to cooperate with the Transit Police officers who responded to the scene. Despite attempts to reason with him, the authorities had no choice but to place the individual under arrest.
According to the MBTA Transit Police's X, the incident took place on December 27 at around 4 PM. The evening commute was briefly complicated for many as officials worked to manage the obstruction and restore normal entrance access to the ailing commuters.
12/27 4PM #MBTA South Station. TPD offs resp for an intoxicated male intentionally blocking the entrance to the RL. The 40y/o male refused to reason w/offs &was placed into custody. He also had several warrants for his arrest. Transported to TPDHQ for the booking process.

It was revealed that the arrested man was no stranger to law enforcement. He reportedly had several warrants out for his arrest before this incident. Following his removal from the station, he was transported to Transit Police Department Headquarters where the booking process commenced.
Details about the warrants and the man's identity have yet to be disclosed. The MBTA Transit Police have not released further information about the case.
