The Irvine Police Department is on the hunt for a man captured on video tampering with vehicles in the University Park neighborhood. On early November 22nd, the suspect was filmed methodically trying car door handles along a residential street – a street which, that same morning, was also the site of a reported vehicle burglary. Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the man in question.
The department took to social media on December 6th, sharing the surveillance footage in hopes that someone might recognize the alleged thief. The man in question, lurking in the shadows of the street, is said to be connected to the burglary. The Irvine PD's post, which was unveiled in their weekly #WANTEDWEDNESDAY campaign, encourages anyone with information to come forward.
“We are trying to identify this man who was captured on camera pulling on door handles of vehicles parked on a residential street in the University Park area in the early morning hours of November 22nd. A vehicle burglary occurred on the street he was seen on,” declared the Irvine Police Department in a Facebook post. The department has provided an email address, [email protected], for tips to be sent directly to Detective Amena.
The effort to apprehend the suspect is still ongoing, and the Irvine PD remains steadfast in their resolve to crack down on property crimes within the community. If you or anyone you know has information relating to the identity of the burglary suspect, you are urged to contact Detective Amena at the email provided.
