In a significant crackdown on drug-related crimes in Kentfield, near Bacich Elementary School, law enforcement has made a noteworthy arrest. The bust went down after the Coordination of Probation Enforcement Detectives (COPE) grew suspicious of a residence known to house probationers, among them Kenneth Metcalfe—a man already wanted on two Marin County warrants and currently on probation for burglary in Sonoma County, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
During an undercover, Metcalfe was cornered into a meeting at a local liquor store with an undercover detective from COPE, where he reportedly planned to pedal methamphetamine, but the intricate planning of COPE and the Specialized Investigative Unit (SIU) ensured the operation went according to plan, despite the stakes and danger inherent in such operations.
The meticulous operation reached its climax on November 30 when Metcalfe fell right into the trap the officers had set, arriving at the site with 3.5 grams of meth ready to sell, or so he thought before being swiftly arrested not only for his outstanding warrants but also for possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine sales, elucidating the collaborative efforts of COPE and SIU.
Following his apprehension, officers searched Metcalfe's Kentfield residence, as his probation terms allowed—a search that unveiled even more narcotics and materials that indicated a setup geared towards the intent to distribute. This only added to the gravity of Metcalfe's offenses, especially given the proximity of his base of operations to a local elementary school, a detail that was not lost on the officers ensuring the safety of their community.
Metcalfe is now facing charges and has been booked into the Marin County Jail, with the specifics of his charges laid out by authorities, including possession with the intent to sell narcotics.
