
Three students from Lauderdale Lakes Middle School were hospitalized following a potential overdose earlier today, according to officials. Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue crews responded to the school, situated on Northwest 30th Avenue, where the students displayed symptoms consistent with a drug overdose. However, the actual substance involved has yet to be identified, as reported by NBC Miami.
The incident prompted an emergency dispatch to the school, with the first call reported at 10:54 a.m. and the last one registered by 11:20 a.m., detailed Battalion Chief Michael Kane. The unnamed students were taken to HCA Florida Northwest Hospital and Broward Health Medical Center for imminent care. As it stands, no updates on the condition of the children have been provided, according to CBS News.
The school officials have not released any further information, and the incident remains under investigation as authorities strive to uncover the origin of the substance that caused such acute distress among the students.
