Lewisville is gearing up for a monumental bash to commemorate its centennial in 2025, and it's calling on its citizens to get in on the action. The city seeks volunteers to join the newly established Centennial Celebration Committee to orchestrate a year-long fiesta to celebrate the city's 100th birthday. Applications are open to all residents who want to have a say in crafting this historic event.
The Centennial Celebration Committee is looking to keep its numbers snug to ensure smooth sailing but plans on creating multiple sub-committees. These sub-committees will focus on everything from community partnerships to event planning, historical preservation, and even memorabilia.
"All residents are encouraged to apply to be on this committee as the City wants to share this exciting milestone in the city’s history," was a call to arms from the city's announcement. But time is ticking – applications will only be received through today, December 31st. While the official meeting schedule is still up in the air, the committee is set to kick things into high gear with frequent meetings throughout 2024 and into the actual centennial year, per the City of Lewisville, Texas.
Members of the Centennial Celebration Committee will be tasked to participate in one or more of these subcommittees, ensuring that each facet of the event is executed with the unique touch that only Lewisville residents can provide. The city's approach is geared toward inclusivity and collaborative effort, promising an anniversary to remember for everyone involved.
