The city's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Marine is kicking off the New Year by offering a smorgasbord of free group activities at the urban oasis of Lincoln Park. Starting from January 2, 2024, locals can engage in everything from stress-busting walks to groovy dance moves, at no cost.

According to a press release, the park located at 101 Pacific Avenue will witness all age groups coming together every Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a Walking Group event, where flat ground makes for a pleasant stroll around the Civic Center and Billie Jean King Main Library. "Participants are encouraged to walk as long as they would like," the release states, setting a tone of inclusivity right from the get-go.

Wednesday’s schedule gears up for those aspiring to get fit, with an Introduction to Fitness using Park Equipment class lined up for anyone aged 13 and over. From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., those present can learn several paths to a healthier lifestyle and how to utilize the park's fitness infrastructure to pack a punch to their routine – and again, regardless of one's stamina or experience level.

Fridays are set for fancy legs-shaking 'Come and Dance: Moving and Grooving' every evening between 5 p.m and 6 p.m. The class welcomes all to learn a variety of freestyle dance moves across different music genres. For those in need of a midday Friday romp, 'Play Dates in the Park' invites children aged 3 to 12 from noon to 1 p.m. for a series of engaging and interactive activities.

Anyone looking to get their game on with these offerings should bear in mind that it’s a first-come, first-served deal.
