Quick action by Los Angeles firefighters doused a blaze that broke out in a residential building in Atwater Village on Thursday night. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the incident occurred at a one-story four-plex located at 4519 W Brunswick Ave.
According to the LAFD alert, fire was showing from one unit when firefighters arrived at approximately 10:35 p.m. They immediately launched an offensive attack to subdue the flames. The fire, contained to just one unit, did not manage to spread to adjacent homes, a feat attributed to the skill and prompt response of the firefighters on the scene.
In a rapid response effort, it took 30 firefighters less than 20 minutes to knock down the fire. The LAFD's official statement recorded the knockdown time as 10:53 PM. Remarkably, no injuries were reported in an event that could have taken a much more tragic turn.
The lone occupant of the affected unit was already outside before the LAFD arrived, indicating a narrow escape from the harrowing event. Despite the potential for disaster, with the residences in close proximity to one another, the swift alignment of the firefighting teams prevented the fire from taking more than it did. Recovery efforts for the occupant and the investigation into the cause of the fire are underway.
