
Firefighters battled a blaze in a Hyde Park residence on Monday as flames engulfed a two-story four-plex. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) alert, the fire was reported at 1:47 PM at 4719 S 8th Avenue. Fire showing from the structure prompted an offensive assault by the responding crews.
The firefighting team managed to quickly establish a hose line and make their way into the fiery grasp of the building. Just 12 minutes later, the fire was knocked down, with the team declaring the situation under control by 1:59 PM, as detailed in a subsequent LAFD alert.
Thirty-two firefighters responded to the emergency. A patient on-scene with a minor medical issue was assessed and subsequently released, the LAFD confirmed. There were no other reported injuries related to the fire. The incident's cause is currently under investigation.
The LAFD's commitment to swift response and efficiency were on full display, with Battalion Chief Nicholas Prange leading a coordinated operation. Teams from FS 66, Batt 13, South Bureau, and Council District 8 responded promptly, ensuring to minimize damage and prevent further spread of the flames in the congested residential area.
