Tragedy struck a bustling Lynn shopping plaza on Tuesday evening when three individuals were seriously injured in front of a Pizza Hut restaurant, rattling the local community. Law enforcement officials and emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire at approximately 8:30 p.m, as confirmed by the Boston 25 News. The victims, found with gunshot wounds in a parking lot off Tremont Street, were quickly transported to area hospitals to receive urgent medical care.
The precise location of where the shooting occurred remains unclear, but the aftermath left a grim scene with shattered glass and bullet holes marring the doors of the establishment, details which were reported by CBS News. In the wake of the violence, a local gym-goer and witness to the chaos, Ignaury Ortega, expressed his dismay at the choice of location for such a destructive act. "I don't know what to make of that. It just happens. It's sad," Ortega told CBS News. "The only thing I'm disappointed about is that it had do be in the plaza. They could have handled it elsewhere - you know what I mean? - not put other people's life at risk."
As of Wednesday morning, Lynn Police Department have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting and are continuing their search for the suspected perpetrator or perpetrators. The department urges anyone with information to step forward and contact them at 781-595-2000. An official update on the condition of the victims remains pending.
Additional coverage from WCVB's NewsCenter 5 provided a snapshot of the scene from that night. A witness described seeing three young men exiting the Pizza Hut moments before the sound of squealing tires and gunfire broke the evening calm. Broken glass and various items, including clothing, could be seen littering the sidewalk in front of the restaurant located at 39 State St., at the strip mall along State Street.
