
Authorities have slapped cuffs on a suspect tied to a recent Roxbury shooting. Christopher Meade, a 30-year-old Malden man, already behind bars for a different crime, now faces multiple gun-related charges stemming from the early December incident, according to the Boston Police Department.
On December 4, in the pre-dawn chill, Boston police hurried to Clifford Street after a 911 call aired a report of gunfire and possible casualties. At roughly 3:51 AM, first responders stumbled upon a grisly scene — an individual wounded, marked by the violence of multiple bullets. The victim, despite the severity of their injuries, survived the onslaught and received prompt medical attention, averting a death that all too often seals such brutal encounters.
In the wake of detailed investigations by District B-2 (Roxbury) detectives, Meade will face the bench, burdened with charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, the police department reports.
This incident casts yet another shadow on Roxbury, a neighborhood persistently grappling with the specter of street violence. The officers arriving at the scene were confronted with the blood of another victim spilt senselessly. Meanwhile, Meade will reappear before the court, where the consequences of that December morning.
