Fairfield, California’s routine was disrupted last month when a man's botched attempt to steal a bottle of alcohol escalated into a physical altercation and a neighborhood chase. Fairfield Police were called to the scene in the 2700 block of North Texas Street after Keith Reed, 34, tangled with Loss Prevention staff before trying to make his getaway.

The suspect, hailing from Oakland, made a break for it, leading police on a wild chase through private properties, leaping fences, and ducking into residential yards and apartment complexes. In his desperate attempt to dodge capture, he crisscrossed North Texas Street, but law enforcement was hot on his heels. Reed's flight from justice came to a grinding halt after a brief foot pursuit by the officers.

Reed was caught and booked into the County Jail on charges of robbery by force and resisting arrest, as the Fairfield Police Department detailed in a Facebook post outlining the incident. His efforts to swipe a bottle and his subsequent rash actions have left him facing serious consequences.

While some might jest at blaming the stolen alcohol for the thief’s actions, Fairfield Police made it clear: "There’s NEVER a valid time to 'blame it on the alcohol".
