A hit-and-run in Carlsbad has left a teenager injured and a man behind bars. Police said a vehicle struck a 15-year-old girl on Dec. 12 at around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Highland Drive and then took off. The Carlsbad Fire Department rushed the victim to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators worked the scene and discovered that the teen was walking across an unmarked crosswalk when she was hit. The driver of the suspect vehicle, who was turning onto Chestnut Avenue from Highland Drive, initially got out to move the victim onto the sidewalk before fleeing the area.
Joshua Weber, a 42-year-old from Winchester, California, was identified as the suspect. Following a lead, Weber was apprehended yesterday in San Diego. He's booked into the San Diego County Jail, facing felony hit-and-run charges, according to the City of Carlsbad Police Department.
