A 55-year-old man was left critically injured in a hit-and-run incident in the Old Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago. The man was crossing West Irving Park Road around 1 a.m. when he was struck by a gray pickup truck that reportedly fled the scene according to police statements cited by the Chicago Tribune. He was then hit by a second vehicle, a black Jeep; the driver of which stopped to call for help.
After being struck, the victim suffering significant bodily trauma, was quickly transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he remains in critical condition, ABC 7 Chicago reports.
Meanwhile, detectives have taken to the street, searching for surveillance footage that might shine a light on the driver of the pickup truck. While the Jeep's driver faces no citations and has, by accounts, fulfilled the burden of conscience and law, the search for the first driver continues.
Anyone with information about the gray pickup truck has been urged to contact the Chicago Police Department as the investigation remains ongoing.
