
A 39-year-old man was killed in a shooting incident in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood in an early-morning outbreak of violence that left him dead at the scene, authorities reported Wednesday. According to Chicago Tribune, the shooting occurred shortly before 3:50 a.m. on the 7300 block of South Dorchester Avenue, where the man was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was found outdoors, on the sidewalk, when police arrived, indicating a public encounter that turned deadly. The vicinity of the area was cordoned off as a crime scene while bystanders watched the grim aftermath.
As of Wednesday morning, the man's identity had not been released pending next-of-kin notification. No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues, with detectives scouring for leads. The Chicago Sun-Times reported the same.
