A man was fatally shot outside a Harris County convenience store, officials said Sunday. The incident unfolded in the 14100 block of SH-249, where deputies from the Harris County Sheriff's Office found a man dead in his vehicle after being approached and shot by an unidentified suspect, according to the Sheriff's Department's social media account.

The alleged gunman fled on foot. Struck by bullets, the victim had just left the store and may have been followed or had an exchange with the assailant, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told local media.
"We don’t know if words were exchanged with another male that was outside," Gonzalez stated. Meanwhile, the sheriff's office is piecing together witness accounts and surveillance footage. No suspect information has been released as investigators continue their search for leads.
