In a violent dispute in a southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood, a man was hospitalized after being shot during an argument over family issues, according to NBC6. The incident took place around 3:25 p.m. on Saturday, with Miami-Dade Police responding to southwest 39th Street and 142nd Terrace where they found one man injured and another quickly taken into custody.
Despite detectives confirming that the two men were not related, the conflict stemmed from an unspecified family matter, that ended with one man shooting the other before he was transported to the hospital, the victim's condition was reported stable, but residents were left reeling by the event with one commenting "I was surprised, really" while describing the neighborhood as typically "very quiet and nice," according to an interview by NBC6. The people at the home involved in the shooting have since declined to comment, with police holding back further details regarding the suspected shooter's arrest.
In a separate but similarly startling incident, tempers flared into gunfire over landscaping disputes in another part of Miami-Dade, with a homeowner and a landscaper arguing over leaves that were blown into the yard, the confrontation, which took place at 1550 NW 79th Street, escalated, leaving one person critically wounded, as CBS News reported. The injured party was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, fortunately, their condition was later stabilized.
Officials stated that the resident's frustration over leaves ending up on their property led to the quarrel, and while two individuals were detained, the suspected shooter has not been publicly identified, nor have the specific charges been confirmed.
