The incident occurred on Thursday in Tomball when a Chevy Equinox SUV smashed into the back of a reversing 18-wheeler, shearing the vehicle's roof off, as reported by FOX San Antonio.
The heavy-duty vehicle, which failed to complete its turn and was carrying an oversized load of steel beams, was backing up to maneuver again when the SUV struck it. At the time of the crash, the 38-year-old victim was sitting in the backseat on the passenger side, according to WLOX.

"The incident remains under investigation," said the sheriff, signaling a potential long road ahead for all involved in the crash and the ripple of its consequences among the local community, shared by the officials with FOX San Antonio.
