
An Uber driver from Manchester, New Hampshire, was charged after a heated exchange with a customer escalated into an alleged gun threat. Victor Jimenez, 46, faces criminal threatening conduct with a firearm charges stemming from the concerning incident that occurred late Monday night.
According to reports by NBC Boston, police received a distress call at around 10:45 p.m. detailing how an argument over ride payment between Jimenez and the passenger turned dangerously violent in the vicinity of Elm and Merrimack streets. The passenger, after entering Jimenez's vehicle for a ride home, claimed that the driver retrieved a gun from the glove box and threatened him, which prompted the passenger to exit the vehicle and flee. Jimenez was reportedly pursued on foot for a short while before driving off.
Law enforcement was quick to respond, locating and apprehending the accused shortly after the altercation was reported. The Manchester Police Department has not released further details on the bail conditions or when Jimenez is due in court.
As per The Union Leader News, the customer, who had summoned the Uber for transportation, described how the payment disagreement quickly got worse, ending with the driver showing a gun.
